These large round to egg-shaped fruits have thick, wraty, greenish skin and white starchy flesh with a bread-like texture, which sometimes contains up to 200 edible seeds and sometimes none at all, It is high in fibre. Breadfruit are normally eaten as a vegetable. They can be peeled and boiled, roasted or fried like potatoes, or baked.
