The rambutan is red plum-sized prickly fruit of an East Indian tree. It has got its name so because of its long 'hair'. In Mala. the word 'rambut' stand for hair. They can be added to fruit salads, served with ice cream or made into jams or jellies. Rabutan syrup is also available in cans.
