A member of lychee  family, the fruit grows in dusters at the base of palm. Snake fruit - so named due to the reddish-brown scaly skin that resembles snake skin. the taste of salak is usually sweet, but less juicy than a lychee. It can be eaten just as it is, or added is fruit salad.
